Luca Baraldi – Associate Researcher ORBICOM and Ambassador European Digital SME Alliance

is an AI Policy Advisor and Scientific coordinator. He is a strategic analyst and tech policy expert working at the crossroads of geopolitics, innovation, and collective responsibility. He advises companies, foundations, and institutions on AI, digital platforms, and public diplomacy, while collaborating with universities and think tanks on the cultural and social impacts of technology. A published author in scientific and geopolitical journals, Luca also speaks globally at conferences and academic institutions. His work spans three continents and explores the shifting boundaries between the real and the virtual, the given and the possible.

Maiga Chang – Athabasca University and Vice Chair, IEEE Northern Canada Section

is Associate Dean, Research & Innovation, and Full Professor at Faculty of Science and Technology, Athabasca University, Canada. Dr. Chang has been appointed as Distinguished Visitor on AI and Chatbot for 2023 to 2025 by IEEE Computer Society and also received the Distinguished Researcher Award from Asia Pacific Society on Computers in Education (APSCE) in 2022. He is now serving as Vice President for International Association of Smart Learning Environments and Vice Chair at the world’s largest technical professional organization, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Northern Canada Section. IEEE Northern Canada Section assists and promotes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as Women in Engineering and EDI in the area of north of Red Deer, Nunavut, Northwest Territory, and Yukon. He is Editor-in-Chief (2014~) of International Journal of Distance Education Technologies, (2020~) of Bulletin of Technical Committee on Learning Technology. He is also member of IEEE Computer Society Technical & Conference Activities Board (2022~2026), Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (2017~2028, APSCE), and Global Chinese Society for Computing in Education (2016~2029, GCSCE). He is serving as a General Chair (2024~) for IEEE TCLT flagship conference International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (IEEE ICALT), a Steering Committee member (2020~) for International Conference on Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), and a Steering Committee member (2022~) for APSCE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Metaverse and Artificial Companions in Education and Society (AI-MetaACES). He has given more than 187 talks and lectures in different events, and he has (co-)authored more than 265 book chapters, journal and international conference papers.

Judith Cosgrove – Joint Research Centre (JRC), EC, Seville

joined the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in June 2022. She works in Seville in the Digital Economy and Society unit as part of a team that examines the social implications of the digital transformation. She led the recent update of the European digital competence framework, DigComp, and contributes to various projects on digital skills, including AI and virtual worlds. Prior to joining the JRC she was Chief Executive Officer of the Educational Research Centre in Ireland. She has over 25 years’ research experience with particular interests in digital education and skills, large-scale assessment and survey analysis, and research for policy. She has contributed in various roles to national and international large-scale assessment, test development and programme and policy evaluation projects. She has a Masters in Psychology and a PhD in Education.

Sergio Fasce

is an international executive with extensive experience in organizational transformation, leadership development and workforce capability building in global technology companies. He previously served as Senior Vice President HR and Transformation at Nokia and held senior leadership roles across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Earlier in his career he led global business units and served as CEO of Alcatel-Lucent Italy, combining P&L responsibility with large-scale organizational transformation. Throughout his career he has worked at the intersection of business strategy, operating models and workforce capability development. His current focus is on how artificial intelligence and digital technologies are reshaping leadership, skills, learning ecosystems and the future of work across generations.

Seiji Isotani – President AIED & University of Pennsylvania

is a learning scientist and engineer internationally recognized for his contributions to artificial intelligence in education and the gamification of learning. His interdisciplinary work bridges computer science, the learning sciences, and public policy. For more than 20 years, he has led groundbreaking research on how people learn through interactive and intelligent educational technologies. He has played a key role in shaping Brazil’s national education policies, including leading the development of the K–12 computer science curriculum and the concept of AIED Unplugged, which has impacted more than 40 million students.
Currently, he serves as Faculty Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Learning Analytics program at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and as President of the International Artificial Intelligence in Education Society. Previously, he was a visiting professor of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a professor of computer science and learning technologies at the University of São Paulo.

Esperanza Miyake – Co-Director, Socially Progressive AI Lab (SPAI-Lab), University of Strathclyde

is a Chancellor’s Fellow and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Humanities at the University of Strathclyde. Miyake is also the Co-Director of the Socially Progressive AI Lab (SPAI-Lab) and Chair of the Humanities EDI committee. Miyake’s current research examines issues around identity and A.I / digital technologies, especially from the perspective of AI governance, digital justice and equality – she is particularly concerned with algorithmically-driven practices that oppress, marginalise and further disadvantage minority groups. Miyake has published five books (her most recent monograph is on Virtual and AI influencers) and numerous academic publications. Miyake has also written for international media outlets (The New York Times, Newsweek Japan) and appeared in BBC News, BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 4. Miyake collaborates regularly with external partners – she is currently a member of Ofcom’s Research, Evidence and Evaluation Group, a Senior Editor for Taylor & Fracis’s Cogent Arts and Humanities and has also worked for the Scottish Government’s Unlocking the Value of Scotland’s Public Sector Personal Data Programme.

Maria Mercedes Rodrigo  – Ateneo de Manila,Philippines and former President of Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE)

is a full professor in the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science of the Ateneo de Manila University. She is the former Executive Director of Areté. Dr. Rodrigo holds a PhD in Computer Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University. Her areas of specialization are technology in education, artificial intelligence in education, and learning analytics. She is a member of the Computing Society of the Philippines and is the former President-Elect of the Asia Pacific Society for Computers in Education (APSCE). In 2021, she received APSCE’s Distinguished Researcher Award.

 

Chair: Carlo Giovannella – ASLERD

graduated in Physics, he worked long time in solid state physics as an expert of complex systems. Nowadays can be considered a Designer for the experience: expert in the technology-enhanced learning, interaction design, computer-mediated communication, design and management of processes, process and product innovation, ecosystems monitoring and benchmarking. From 2015 till 2023 has been the President of ASLERD (Association for Smart Learning Ecosystems and Regional Development); at present is member of the Executive Committee of the association as Past-President. It has been the Scientific Director of the Creative Industries Area at the Consorzio Roma Ricerche from 2013 till 2016. He has been researcher and appointed professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata from 1993 till 2025, where he has chaired for more than 25 years the ISIM_garage (Interfaces and Multimodal Interactive Systems), a research lab devoted to design and development of TEL-environments, tools and methods for education, interaction design, and more. He is the Editor in Chief of the journal Interaction Design and Architecture (IxD&A) since 2005.
