is Head of Unit ‘Learning, Multilingualism and Accessibility’ in the Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission.
The unit supports policy, research, innovation and deployment of learning technologies and key enabling digital language technologies and services to allow all European consumers and businesses to fully benefit from the Digital Single Market.
The unit is responsible for the Web Accessibility Directive, which aims to make public sector websites and mobile applications accessible to people with impairments. The unit also promotes a better Internet for children by protecting and empowering children online, and improving the quality of content available to them. He has worked on policy development, innovation and research implementation in the areas of digital content, technologies for learning, e-inclusion, assistive technologies and better Internet for kids. Prior to joining the European Commission he worked as researcher and AI specialist in Italy.
